You maybe really interested by my former posts, but I guess you wonder who is behind this wonderful and so interesting blog.
So I decided to present you some parts of my student life and professional experiences. Of course, this is by reading what I have provided in this blog and in my wiki, that you'll be able to really know what I can do and what I think.
You can click on pictures to know more about institutions and firms presented.

My student course

After a year in litterature class to prepare competitions for Sciences Po, I have been studying history in the famous university, La Sorbonne.

Then, I passed the exam to enter in the Celsa, the famous communication school in france, which is part of La Sorbonne. Here, Bob Spaulding taught us e-communication, class in which I created this blog.

In order to improve my english, but also to meet some new people from all over the world (and to have a lot of parties!!!), I have been to Denmark as an exchange student for one semestre. I was at Aarhus School of Business.

My professional experiences

My longest experience is a intership at LaTribune.fr, Investir.fr and TPE-PME.com 's advertising control. I did some marketing, customer relationship and market studies.

But I also had some little job to make money:

I have been saleswomen when there were sales in big shops.
I have been welcoming hostess on different events, as the Salon mondial de l'automobile.

Second Life and e-learning communication class: what kind of comparison?

I think that we can find a lot of explainations about concepts we discussed in class. And more, the concept of this class is more deeply developped in Second Life. It's the occasion to come back on few notions.

Social networks and outsourcing to the customer
This new term describes the new way some parts of the web are designed. Contents of some pages on the web come only from users.

Linden Lab, the company behind the game, said, on its blog, it is making the software blueprint of its PC program available to developers to modify for their personal use and to share with others. It's the same model that's used to build the Linux operating system and the Firefox Web browser.
Philip Rosedale, Linden Lab's co-founder and chief executive officer, said he hopes the developer community will help his relatively small staff 50 programmers or so fix bugs in the code and optimize the software for use on older computers. He also expects some cool tools to emerge.
It's kind of social networks, a website where contents are produced by users.
However , I would say qualify this practice as outsourcing to the customer. Indeed, more than permitting a co-working, opening the source is a way for Linden Lab Not to work to hard for the futur.

Cybercrime is a term used broadly to describe criminal activity in which computers or networks are a tool, a target, or a place of criminal activity. These categories are not exclusive and many activities can be characterized as falling in one or more categories.

Communicating without real contact
In this class we were asked to create a MSN account in order to participate to the virtual class. It supposed to invent a pseudo, adn to get used not to speak with a personn in front of us. We hadn't to be that creative with the creation of our name, and through the webcame we could discover real face of our interlocuter. Anyway it could be the first step of a virtual class, as Second Life offers a virtual world. By creating an avatar you create a new identity. Maybe classes of the futur will be that way. Could you imagine a teacher or a pupils with this look (picture below)?! Schools will provide rules of behaviour in the virtual class!

More over, Second Life shows what you want to be. Your avatar reflects what you would like to be. Your identity is on the web, as Loic Le Meur, famous French blogger says. In our e-communication class, Bob underlined the fact we should have an e-portfolio in order to show what who we are, and what are the competences we have. This is the same logic: demonstrate by the Internet tools who we are.

Advertising
We discussed about the fact Youtube has been bought by Google in order to sell ad spaces on the website. Indeed, brands use the sucess of some webtsites to reach their cusotmers. In Second Life brands are more and more present. Look at the video below to understand.

The term mash-up refers to a new breed of Web-based applications created by hackers and programmers (typically on a volunteer basis) to mix at least two different services from disparate, and even competing, Web sites. A mash-up, for example, could overlay traffic data from one source on the Internet over maps from Yahoo, Microsoft, Google or any content provider. The term mash-up comes from the hip-hop music practice of mixing two or more songs.

This capability to mix and match data and applications from multiple sources into one dynamic entity is considered by many to represent the promise of the Web service standard (also referred to as on-demand computing).

That’s happened to Google recently which had open at the beginning of this year the Belgium version of Google news. The association of the daily press publishers didn’t let Google to publish the content of their articles on Google News.

At the beginning of last September Google lost the lawsuit against the association of the daily press and withdraw all news which come from Belgium’s daily newspaper websites.

Netvibes purposes to its users to create their personal space, in order to aggregate the news they want to receive, with RSS and Atom technology support. Created with an Ajax-bases start page, the webpage can be organized through tabs and modules, and let its users to chose the type of content they want to have (news, Gmail messages, web search, local weather forecast…)

Better security on the web

shttp is the new version of the protocole http. This one didn't ensure enough security on the web, in particular for services on line. That 's why searchers worked on a new protocole and created SHTTP.
S-HTTP was designed by E. Rescorla and A. Schiffman of EIT to secure HTTP connections. S-HTTP provides a wide variety of mechanisms to provide for confidentiality, authentication, and integrity. Separation of policy from mechanism was an explicit goal. The system is not tied to any particular cryptographic system, key infrastructure, or cryptographic format. The internet draft is fairly clear in its presentation of the protocol, although implementation details are sketchy.

Learning by the internet is not that easy, in that sense that it's difficult to intereact in class. Each one is doing his own assignment and we don't have any exchange about topics we study.
I think that the idea of creating personal Netvibes with RSS feed to other students blogs is a very good idea. Maybe we could work in group. It would be interesting in term of sharing ideas.

RSS is a family of web feed formats. The initialism "RSS" is variously used to refer to the following standards:

Really Simple Syndication (RSS 2.0)
Rich Site Summary (RSS 0.91, RSS 1.0)
RDF Site Summary (RSS 0.9 and 1.0)
RSS formats are specified in XML (a generic specification for data formats). RSS delivers its information as an XML file called an "RSS feed", "webfeed", "RSS stream", or "RSS channel".
RSS is a simple XML-based system that allows users to subscribe to their favorite websites. Using RSS, webmasters can put their content into a standardized format, which can be viewed and organized through RSS-aware software or automatically conveyed as new content on another website.
A program known as a feed reader or aggregator can check a list of feeds on behalf of a user and display any updated articles that it finds. It is common to find web feeds on major websites and many smaller ones. Some websites let people choose between RSS or Atom formatted web feeds; others offer only RSS or only Atom.

Although the term cybercrime is usually restricted to describing criminal activity in which the computer or network is an essential part of the crime. This term is also used to include traditional crimes in which computers or networks are used to enalbe the illicit activity.

Examples of cybercrime in which the computer or network is a tool of the criminal activity include spamming and certain intellectual property and criminal copyright crimes, particularly those facilitated through peer-to-peer networks.
Examples of cybercrime in which the computer or network is a target of criminal activity include defeating access controls (unauthorized access) , malicious code, and denial-of-service attacks.
Examples of cybercrime in which the computer or network is a place of criminal activity include theft of service (in particular, telecom fraud) and certain financial frauds.
Examples of common (Anti-social engineering) crimes facilitated through the use of computers or networks include Nigerian 419 frauds, identity theft, child pornography, online gambling, securities fraud, etc.

Another way to define cybercrime is simply as criminal activity involving the information technology infrastructure, including illegal access (unauthorized access), illegal interception (by technical means of non-public transmissions of computer data to, from or within a computer system), data interference (unauthorized damaging, deletion, deterioration, alteration or suppression of computer data), systems interference (interfering with the functioning of a computer system by inputting, transmitting, damaging, deleting, deteriorating, altering or suppressing computer data), misuse of devices, forgery (ID theft), and electronic fraud.

All of us are victims of cybercrime with spam. 75% of the exchanged mails in the world are spams: it is so huge! Hopefully, it is the only way I have been reached by cybercrime. But I could have bad experience because of cybercrime on my bank account on line. There are so many examples of it. When I check my bank account there is often a message warning us of current cybercrime.

It’s difficult to protect ourselves against these practices. But the first thing to do is not to open mails from people we don’t know or with strange names. An other way to protect ourselves is to use secured websites for risky operations, for example when you buy something on the internet, use famous websites as Amazon.

YouTube is the leader of the world of the free videos sharing on line. 30.5 million people come every month on this webwite, which ranks it at the 10th place of the Alexa ranking.
What’s its history? How Youtube.com has become so popular?
Three formers employees of Playpal, Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim founded it February 2005. The creators offered the public a preview of the site in May 2005, and six months later, YouTube made its official debut. On October 9, 2006 it was announced that the company will be purchased by Google for US$ 1.65 billion in stock, which will be Google's biggest purchase to date. The purchase agreement between Google and YouTube came after YouTube presented three agreements with media companies in an attempt to escape the threat of copyright-infringement lawsuits. YouTube will continue to operate independently, and the company's 67 employees and its co-founders will continue working within the company.[
The wide variety of site content includes movie and TV clips and music videos as well as amateur content such as videoblogging. This diversity explains partly the success of YouTube. You can find so many things on it that you remember it every time you want to search something. But I think the main explaination of its success is the easiness to use it. Users may submit videos in several common-file formats (such as .mpeg and .avi). YouTube automatically converts them to Flash Video (with extension .flv) and makes them available for online viewing. Flash Video is a popular video format among large hosting sites due to its wide compatibility. Moreover, the fact you can put video on your blog from YouTube is an other key of its success. Indeed, there are more and more blogs, so more and more people want to make it attractive thanks to video.
In the future?
YouTube may be used by companies to reach consumers, either through video advertising either through analysis of the use of the Internet of particular videos. I mean as companies use internet buzz to spread advertising through funny videos, they could download them on YouTube to make it watch by more consumers. For example, Bic is launching an advertising campaign whose niche is teenagers. So they decided to use the web to spread funny videos. We could imagine they put it on YouTube. Second, on the Internet many statistics about webusers behavior are available. Companies can make a first launch of a music clip for example in order to analyse how to potential consumers could appreciate it.

Develop qualities and enjoy the Internet!

To get good in professional activity, you might develop personal qualities that will help you to be efficient: generosity, patience, discipline, insight, perseverance, comprehension.

If you think about it, you’ll discover that every day you improve these qualities on the Internet through offers and uses.

Generosity:

the main business model on the internet is based on free use. For example, if you want to listen to old music, you can go on Nostalgie radio. If you look for informations about new movies, you can go find them on allocine for instance. If you don't know what to cook for diner, you can look for a recipie on marmiton. You want to read daily news, go on the New York Times website. All these services are delivered for free. So in that sense, we can say that these website are generous, or at least they are generous toward users, since most of them get money by advertising.

Patience:

I think this quality is especially tested by users. Indeed, when you move on the internet, you are often confronted to technical problems ( you don't have the right program, the page is download to slowly...) and to problems from organization on the Internet. I mean that most of the website earn money thanks to advertising, and some forms of ad are really awkward as pop-up or expand banners. For instance, if you go on allocine, you won't reach the home page directly, you'll have an ad for a new movie, at least today, October 11th.

Discipline:

once again, I think that this quality is improved y user when they participate to forum or wiki. If you search informations about Linux, you have the opportunity to go on forum to discuss with people who know well the product. Imagine if someone connect on this forum and explain wrong things "just for fun"... The credibility and the interest of the forum are down. It's the same on wikipedia: giving a false definition you will induce someone in the error.

Insight:

How you use the Internet? Do you use all the opportunities? You should use the Internet in order to get benefits for you. For instance, you are interested on a particular subject? search on the web more informations, sign up for receiving podcats on this particular subject. You are passionated by flowers and gardens, sign up on this website to listen podcasts.

Perseverance:

There are so many websites that it's very difficult to find quickly good informations, or THE useful website. When you look for more informations about e-learning on Google, you find 268,000,000 answers. Even if answers are ranked, you have to be perseverance to find the adequate answer.

Comprehension:

It is the summary of the five quality above. You use the internet well when you understand it.

Discover the large scape of the Web!

The Internet offers many ways to learn English. I think that good practice is either sign up for podcasts in English, either watch English TV programs, CNN news for instance. It doesn't take you more time than usually. Find a program or podcast that interest you, on a subject on which you often search informations in French. Do the same work in english website if possible, and you'll progress in understanding written and spoken english.

Make your voice heard all over the world!

We spent a lot of time on discussing about podcast. I remember I didn't know what it was. The first time I heard this word was the day Bob asked us to find example on the internet and to record one. I remember too that noone around me, except some Internet experts, did know the meaning of this word.

Podcasting enables independent producers to create selfpublished, syndicated "radioshows", and gives broadcast radio or television programs a new distribution method. In the podcasting model, the publisher publishes a list of programs in a special format, known as a feed, on the web. A user who wants to see or hear the podcast suscribes to the feed in special podcatching software, which periodically checks the feed and automatically downloads new programs as they become available. Typically, the podcasting software also transfers the program to a desktop or a media player. Users create their own program, and they can hear or see whenever and wherever they want. This is the main innovation of podcasting. Contrary to the radio where the feed is imposed, podcasting offers freedom to the users in organizing their time. Moreover, thanks to the RSS feed, they don't have to go their favorite website to download the program, it is done automatically. It's not time-shifted file.

Podcasting is a portmanteau that combines the words broadcasting and iPod. However, the term is not a registered trademark belonging to Apple because neither podcasting nor listening to podcasts requires an iPod.

Save artists!

We also discussed about DRM, Digital Rights Management. It permits to defend authors rights in their creation: texts, pictures, videaos. Wih DRM, you can broadcast texts, sounds, pictures on a digital way protecting author rights. Thanks to technical protecting measures, DRM'goal is to control the use of digital works. For exemple, if a DVD is protected by DRM, you cannot watch it outside the envisaged geographic area. Copies can be limitated too. Some musical forms are incompatibles, as iTunes. etc...

This practice affects more those who pirate media than legitimate purchasers. Indeed, they cannot download all what they want, and they cannot use them as they want.

What's up?

As podcasts show, the Internet is more and more worked by users. They create theirselves their internet, with animations, video... which necessitate high flow. So, I think that the Internet with very high flow, in particular with the arrival of the FTTH, Fiber To The Home, is gonna expand. Internet 2.0 could only live with this kind of technology. This development of the flow speed is very important, and will change the form of the Internet.

Today, a big debate animates main actors of the web: Web neutrality

Net neutrality, which is shorthand for network neutrality, is one of two possible answers to the following legislative question: Should cable and telephone companies be allowed to charge add-on fees to others for access to their networks?Under a net-neutral system, the answer would be "no." If net neutrality were to lose, the answer would be "yes."

Currently, AT&T can't ask Google to pay extra for the use of its Internet switches and routers even though Google, the big search-engine Web site, uses much more bandwidth than other, smaller sites.Such extra fees would continue to be forbidden if net neutrality legislation were to prevail in Congress. On the other hand, if AT&T Inc. and other Internet infrastructure providers defeat net neutrality, tiered pricing will be possible for the first time, and big users of the Internet could be dunned for more than they already pay.

Put another way, if net neutrality passes, the AT&Ts of the world will be forced to pay for all of their equipment upgrades themselves and could not subsidize that effort by imposing premium fees for premium services. If net neutrality fails, they will be able to recoup more of those costs than they can now from the likes of Google Inc., Microsoft Corp. and other major users of the World Wide Web.At its heart, then, the battle is commercial -- over who pays how much for improvements to the Internet that we all use and sometimes love.

Leading online players such as Google and Ebay, as well as websites such as It's Our Net, have warned that an internet where the richest could pay to be found would seriously damage competition, freedom of expression and innovation.

Online campaigns are in full swing to protest against the possibility of a two-tier internet, with Save the Internet publishing a list of reasons why the abandonment of net neutrality is a bad idea.

It is really difficult to have clear position about this debate. Indeed, the fights of influence make difficult to create one's own point of view. I would rather agree with the web neutrality. We've been used to have a free internet, where each one can grows up, can express itself easily, can test new concepts. This is the strenght of the Internet.If you know something about technic, you have the opportunity to try something for free. I have the impression that the abandonment of net neutrality might diminish this opportunity by supporting companies which have money.

As new concept, we can speek of "social networks". This new term describes the new way some parts of the web are designed. Indeed, contents of some pages on the web come only from users. A wiki works on the idea. The most famous example of the social networks is wikipedia. It is really usefull when you work in group. Our master has created a wiki for one of our class in which we work all together on a project. It shows the high potential
of this technology in growing efficience in professional work. So many, professional projects involve different services and different companies that it could be very usefull to share ideas on a wiki.

What is a wiki? What is it used for?

Wiki is in Ward's original description:The simplest online database that could possibly work.

Wiki is a piece of server software that allows users to freely create and edit Web page content using any Web browser. Wiki supports hyperlinks and has a simple text syntax for creating new pages and crosslinks between internal pages on the fly.

Wiki is unusual among group communication mechanisms in that it allows the organization of contributions to be edited in addition to the content itself.

Like many simple concepts, "open editing" has some profound and subtle effects on Wiki usage. Allowing everyday users to create and edit any page in a Web site is exciting in that it encourages democratic use of the Web and promotes content composition by nontechnical users.

Where does the word wiki come from? Why does this meaning apply to the way it is used and applied?

Wiki is an hawaïn word which means quick. It permits to create and edit pages very quickly, without hours ok technical work.

Do you use it, when and how? Why is it helpful to you?

Yes, I use it sometimes, when I look for definition. For example last week when we had to find TIVO definition or other technical subjects, it was a good source for me because it is user-friendly. But the inconvenient is that we can’t be sure of the truth of the information because every body can write something. That’s the limit of this website.

Why does it have such a strong international impact? What is inherent in it that makes international diffusion faster?

Wikipedia offers an easy access to information. That interests everybody. And it permits to share the knowledge. Moreover, Wikipedia exists in several languages so each user can find what he wants and it is easily understable.-

Explain what subject you would like to edit and post your discussion of that edit on your blog. For this Level, the words and page that you propose to edit can be from the French edition.

I would complete the page on Avignon. There’s almost nothing about the festival.

Le Festival, son organisation

La mission du Festival est de présenter la création contemporaine française et étrangère en matière de théâtre et de danse, et plus largement des arts de la scène, en offrant chaque année une quarantaine de spectacles à un public toujours nombreux (autour de 100 000 entrées). Les représentations sont données dans une vingtaine de lieux non conventionnels à Avignon et aux alentours: des cloîtres, des églises, le célèbre Palais des Papes, une ancienne carrière de pierre, des gymnases...
Le Festival présente chaque année un programme différent qui, depuis 2004, est inventé en complicité avec un artiste associé. Il est composé majoritairement de créations, c’est-à-dire de spectacles qui ne sont pas encore créés au moment du choix par la direction artistique et dont beaucoup sont créés pendant le Festival.
La direction du Festival, les équipes techniques, administratives et de production sont basées à Avignon ; l’équipe de communication se trouve à Paris. L’équipe est composée de 20 permanents, et s’agrandit progressivement pour atteindre en juillet environ 600 salariés, dont la moitié de techniciens relevant du régime spécifique d’assurance chômage dit "des intermittents".

Depuis 1980, le Festival est une association régie par la loi 1901.
Chacune des collectivités publiques qui subventionne le Festival : État, Ville d'Avignon, Département de Vaucluse, Région Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, est représentée au conseil d'administration qui compte aussi sept personnalités qualifiées.

Le conseil d'administration se réunit, deux à trois fois par an, pour discuter des grandes orientations du Festival, s'informer de la programmation artistique, voter le budget prévisionnel et en contrôler la bonne exécution. Les directeurs sont nommés par le conseil d'administration, avec l'accord conjoint et formel du maire d'Avignon et du ministre de la Culture. Depuis Jean Vilar, le directeur artistique bénéficie de la plus totale liberté dans le choix du programme et toutes les tutelles publiques ont toujours respecté cette indépendance d'action, quelles qu'aient été les situations politiques.

La programmation artistique
Le Festival est composé de spectacles qui ont été choisis par la direction artistique. Depuis 2004, chaque édition est inventée avec la complicité d’un artiste associé pour tracer avec lui la carte d’un territoire artistique. Au-delà de ses propres créations, ce sont ses questionnements, ses pratiques, ses enthousiasmes qui inspirent librement l’ensemble de la programmation. Les artistes associés choisis par la direction artistique du Festival sont Thomas Ostermeier pour l’édition 2004, Jan Fabre pour 2005, Josef Nadj pour 2006 et Frédéric Fisbach pour 2007. Le programme ainsi élaboré est composé par une vingtaine d’équipes artistiques, dont l’œuvre, est éventuellement déployée dans le temps et l’espace du Festival, avec un ou plusieurs spectacles, mais aussi des lectures, des expositions, des films, des débats, qui sont autant d’entrées dans l’univers de ces artistes. C'est dire la part de risque prise chaque année, partagée avec les artistes. Il y a chaque soir au Festival, une ou plusieurs "premières", qui font qu’Avignon est un vrai lieu de créations et d’aventures pour les artistes comme pour les spectateurs.

C'est le directeur artistique du Festival qui choisit les artistes et leurs projets. Il n'y a donc pas de "comité de sélection" ou de "dossier de candidature" préconçu à remplir et à adresser au Festival.

Par contre, et en marge du Festival, se déroule pendant la même période, le "off", qui, en réponse au désir d'expression de nombreuses compagnies françaises et internationales, présente sur plus de 200 scènes leurs travaux aux passionnés de théâtre en visite à Avignon. L'organisation du off est totalement indépendante de celle du Festival d'Avignon. What new use of a wiki could you propose? How would you apply this to a learning situation, for example?

We could use a wiki in situations in which we need to share informations. It could be useful in the situation of work et distance. In compagnies where there are comercials which don't come to the head quarter. I think about Total for example. Some people in charge of selling products arer very few in relation with their collegues. Wiki could be a space of exchange about experiences and products. It would permit to share important informations quickly, so to be more performant and more aware of the products specificities.
It could be also interesting in a e-learning class. Instead of posting our job on our personal blog, we could altogether make one page on a subject, adding each one our idea. It would be easier to know ideas of other students.

TWiki? It is a flexible, powerful, and easy to use enterprise collaboration platform. The exercise we did in class this week involved finding information. What was your best source of information to answer the questions? Why? What other strategies did you use to answer the questions?

I have seeked and found the major part of the informations on Google. I am used to this search engin, as a lot of people. I like it because generally it makes a good selection on topics I want. But sometimes it isn't pertinent, so I also used Wikipedia. This source is practical and user-friendly, and for the technical subjects we had to treat, it was an intersting source for me, while I have very little knowledge in this domain.

At the end of class, we had a collection of answers available to all of you in the form of each student's blog. What is this effect called and what does it do? How can it be useful to you? Did you use it? What types of situations or tasks can it be useful in?

The practice can be useful in term of share of ideas. Instead of having each one our paper and your correction on this, as a traditional way, we can look at other students ideas and definitions. It could be a very enriching experience. I have been on Juliette's blog o see her definition of "long tail marketing strategies".

I believe it could be an interesting tool for group works. It permits to the members to be aware of the new ideas of their collegues.

What is the difference between the attitude and approach of French people (in general) and Americans (in general) to technology and the adoption of new technologies? Should this change? How? What would help it change?

Apparently, American people are more enthousiasts with the new technologies and they adopt them easily, whereas French people are more reticents and careful. But I believe both approachs are interesting: Amercicans permit the technologies be developing and the French approach which prefer studing them, helps to take the distance and to think about the changes this new technologies can provoque in our society.

So, in my mind, on one hand, Americans should think more about their use of new technologies beacause there good and bad things in these. On the other hand, French should be less scareful in front of new technologies. This could chang by an opening of mind in both country to other cultures and uses.

In more and more professions, the application of e-communications skills like we are developing are increasingly important. Give three examples of professions you are interested in where this is the case.

If we considere e-mails as e-communication skills, every professions are concerned. But if we considere the work at distance, I don't see any communication job which this kind of practices are used. Indeed, they are professions in which personnal contacts are very very important. They are on the statement of a good communication. Obviously, conferences at distance exist in every professions. So that's interesting to know how to create and maintain a link in this case.

Concerning the practice of ripping: what is your point of view on this practice? Is it illegal? Is it unethical? What are the moral considerations? Do you consider it normal? Why?

I am not used to this practice because it is technically too much difficult for me! And I dont't need friends make it for me because I don't need new software. So, as I am not concerned, I would say that illegal and unethical, that is a theft. When you want something in a shop, you have to buy it to have it. That's exactly the same on Internet. On the other hand, softwares are very expensive, too much expansive. So I understand people who make ripping.

What are three things you learned from this exercise, two things that interested you, and one question you still have about the subjects mentioned?

I have learnt a lot of things: about every technical subjects: EULA, DRM, TIVO

I was interested by the intellectual property and by television on demand.

Intellectual property refers to creations of the mind: inventions, literary and artistic works, and symbols, names, images, and designs used in commerce.Intellectual property is divided into two categories: Industrial property, which includes inventions (patents), trademarks, industrial designs, and geographic indications of source; and Copyright, which includes literary and artistic works such as novels, poems and plays, films, musical works, artistic works such as drawings, paintings, photographs and sculptures, and architectural designs. For example: a numerical library shows the problem of intelluctual property. We can't put it on the Internet because of the intellectual property. When I made my internship in a "régie publicitaire". The advertising director wanted to propose to put a TV ad on the web site but it wasn't possible because of the creative property of the agence. And to finish, we can't use an artistic image whiwh has a copyright without getting the permission.

EULA, or end user licensing agreement:
An EULA is a legal contract between the manufacturer and/or the author and the end user of an application. The EULA details how the software can and cannot be used and any restrictions that the manufacturer imposes (e.g., most EULA’s of proprietary software prohibit the user from sharing the software with anyone else). Not every EULA is the same. In my mind, "monetize an Internet model" is to decide to make money on a website whereas it was not its purpose first. I think about radio website as www.funradio.fr. Fun radio exists without the Internet. It is a famous teenager radio in France. At one moment they decided to implant themselves on the Internet. I can't remember exactly the apparence of the first version of the website but It wasn't as developped in term of commercial offers as now. If you go on funradio.fr, you are proposed to buy a lot af think: loading ringings of mobile, buy CD's, DVD's, concert tickets...etc Moreover, Funradio makes money selling a lot a ads on its website. Internet appears as an opportunity to make money for Fun Radio.

1. Learning a language, like English, is not just learning vocabulary and grammar and studying books. It is also learning how to use the language in order to get things accomplished, create contact, maintain relationships, establish trust and so on. These are the social or professional functions of the language. In this respect, what are the ways you are learning English in our class by internet? How are you creating and maintaining contact and relationships? How are you using English? What are the ways you could do this better?

I have indeed experimented the importance of speaking English in context. During travels, as in Thailand this summer, I have understood my lack of knowledge in English. I was with 2 bilingual persons who could speak with every traveler we met, and I I had big difficulties to establish a real contact. Now, as I am preparing my departure in Denmark, I have to communicate in English with the University by mail. So, it is a way for me to use English in a sort of professional context.
I believe that in this point of view, our class of e-culture could be interesting. We are now in master. The time of learning grammar is finish. I know my difficulty is to speak English fluently. That’s not reading texts and books that I will get better, but communicating instantaneously either by writing on msn messenger, either by speaking. Moreover, one of the stakes of an e-culture class with this device is to establish contact in English with Bob but also with the other students. We have to participate in order o maintain the contact. Without participation, each person stays in one’s world without paying attention to the others.

I don’t have one because until last week I didn’t know it. As I am very bad in technique, I don’t have personal creations to put on the web for example, so I don’t’ see any interest for the moment of using an FTP server. But never know…

1. Our class has a special approach to interactivity. It is not possible to have the same interaction of a normal class, but it offers several new ways of interacting. What are these? What are the ways that are especially interesting to you? How could they work better? What technical solutions can you suggest?

We can interacting by using the common space to make remarks, give our opinion on a subject, make suggestions. But as I am not so good at oral, I prefer speaking than writing, and it’s not easy in this class. Moreover it is slower to react by writing. While you are writing an idea, some one else has already given an other idea on which you would want to react.
But I believe this class is in constant amelioration, even if msn messenger is not the best way to do it.

1. Prepare one question about the last class: what did you not understand? What would like to have more information on and why? What question did our discussion cause you to ask?

I have no specific question. I asked myself about the importance of technology in our society. How we are dependant of it to work: for example there’s no more company which don’t work on computer, it has become a necessity to know using computers. This English class is a perfect example: if we don’t have computer an Internet at home it is more difficult to do homework. We are also dependant of the working of the technology, as we had the bad experience in class. And even if it makes part of the dispositif of our class, it is really difficult not to be angry about it and to positive.
